BCIPAY Privacy Policy

Banque pour le Commerce et l'Industrie BCI attaches the utmost importance to protecting the privacy of its customers and the security of their personal data. As a banking institution subject to professional secrecy, the BCI implements rigorous measures to guarantee the confidentiality of customer information. Accordingly, staff are strictly forbidden to divulge any confidential information of which they may have knowledge. However, in the cases provided for by law, professional secrecy does not apply to authorities, persons or bodies empowered by legislation.

Customers are informed that BCI may or may not process personal data collected during the conclusion and execution of the contract relating to the BCIPAY application. This data will be used for the following purposes:

  • Management of accounts and/or subscribed products and services, as well as documentation of transactions and agreements;
  • Customer relationship management ;
  • Risk management, fraud prevention, debt collection and management of payment incidents;
  • Compliance with legal and regulatory obligations, particularly with regard to operational risk management and the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism;
  • Any incident, erroneous or irregular declaration may be subject to specific processing in order to prevent fraud;
  • Any other purpose related to the services offered or the activity of the BCI.

BCIPAY undertakes not to communicate its customers' personal data to third parties. However, the customer expressly consents to the bank collecting, processing and communicating his/her personal data:

  • BCI member entities and regulatory authorities,
  • Transaction beneficiaries and their banks, as part of the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism, in accordance with current regulations.

With the exception of communications required by law or regulation, as well as those mentioned above, these exchanges are mainly necessary for the management of customer relations and are intended to:

  • To study the customer's file within the framework of the management delegations granted by BCI;
  • Execute customer orders and transactions, particularly where resources and services are pooled within the institution.

The above-mentioned processing operations may involve the transfer of personal data to third countries that do not offer an adequate level of privacy protection. In such cases, BCI takes the necessary measures to guarantee the security and protection of such data, which may be communicated, on request, to the competent official and judicial authorities in the country concerned, in particular in the context of the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

Customers have the right to access their personal data and to request corrections. They may also update or delete data that is inaccurate, incomplete or out-of-date. They may also object to their data being processed, subject to providing a legitimate reason. It is understood that such opposition could prevent the bank from providing the product or service requested, or even lead to the closure of the customer's account.

BCI complies with legal and criminal provisions relating to money laundering and the financing of terrorism. It is also obliged to inform the customer of any unusual or suspicious transactions, particularly because of the terms, amounts or exceptional nature of such transactions compared with previous transactions. The customer undertakes to provide any information required to clarify these operations.
